I need help on lerics by April 25,2012
I get small pieces for lyrics in my head. I write them down and try to add on to it as I go. This is one of the pieces for a song I’m working on called “Soldier”
I’m struggling to stay alive, but it feels so hard to breath.

Great to hear Lisbeth. What I have found to help me when I’m stuck “melodically” is to imitate a song I think really has the kind of melody I want to write.
I will literally sit working on my own melody, then I’ll play a few lines of a “hit” song then go back to my song. It’s kind of like training my brain to “hear” new melody ideas.
Try changing positions when you write. Walk around outside when writing. Walk – or even run around outside if you need. Sounds silly but it can really work, especially if your default melody is so melancholy. Go somewhere private so you won’t feel embarrassed and try singing really loud any melody ideas, even yelling or singing in a silly voice can help.
It will feel really stupid at first (especially if someone catches you) but it can help kick you out of a bad melody habit.
Also, instead of singing pluck out new melody ideas on the piano. I just used this technique last night when co-writing a new song. I was stuck in my default melody and it did not sound good. I finally pulled out a little keyboard and played some different notes that I wasn’t naturally finding with my voice…
Sorry so long there, but I totally know the feeling. Let me know if any of those techniques help
